Missouri Law (RSMo Section 182.827) requires public schools and libraries to filter Internet access to inappropriate material. For this reason the Raymore Peculiar School District uses iBoss web filtering.

HTTPS and iBoss

HTTPS is the protocol on which most websites operate today. When a website uses HTTPS, the connection from your device all the way to the website is encrypted. If anyone in between intercepts your traffic, they will be unable to decipher what is inside.

This causes some issues with web content filters. As an example, Google uses HTTPS on all of it's websites now. When you do a Google search, only you and Google know what your search query was. Our iBoss server would not be able to filter on searched keywords in this case. To fix this, we use a man-in-the-middle approach to decrypt your traffic to Google to see the searched keyword. For this to work, iBoss has it's own certificate that is presented when going to websites that we actively decrypt. For all of this to work seamlessly, your device must have the iBoss certificate installed.

If you know what you are doing, you can download the iBoss certificate here. If you need help installing the certificate, please go to ibosscert.raypec.k12.mo.us. This page will detect the device you are on and present you with instructions specific to you on how to install the certificate. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to contact the help desk.

Once the iBoss certificate is installed, be aware that this allows the RayPec School District to decrypt SSL traffic on our network. This could potentially result in confidential data being accessible by our district.
